Which is undoubtedly an integral part of the food industry refrigeration. Without refrigeration, fruits, meat and other foods will not last long and will rot.

Just as having a refrigerator is a necessity for the home, so is having a refrigerator in the food industry. These refrigerators are generally called industrial refrigerators. Refrigerators are divided based on the temperature of the refrigerator or the working temperature of the refrigerator. Below we refer to the types of refrigerators.

You have probably seen the signs of industrial refrigerators or small refrigerators. You will definitely want to learn more about them. In this opportunity, we will fully examine the types of refrigerators.

Different types of industrial refrigeration are:

Cold below zero Cold above zero

As it turns out, these two types are simply different.

Temperatures above or below zero can play an important role in distinguishing the two refrigerators. Before we move on to another topic, it may be interesting for you to tell a little about the history of industrial refrigerators.

History of the refrigerator

The Chinese were the first to discover the secret of cold and healthy food in the cold.

They kept their fruits and food for a relatively long time by digging holes in the ground and placing some ice or ever-cold water. This traditional form of cold storage was practiced for centuries until the Industrial Revolution.

A method was invented in the 17th century in which food was stored for a long time with pieces of ice and sawdust and a relatively large environment, parts of which were insulated.

Later, with the invention of heat engine cycles and subsequent refrigeration cycles in the 19th century, a major change occurred in the construction of large industrial refrigerators. Today, these refrigerators have become the dominant refrigerators and are classified into two types of refrigerators below zero and refrigerators above zero.

Types of refrigerators according to their applications

Refrigerators have two main categories, above zero and below zero, which differ in their applications. High-zero refrigerators are used to store fruit, medicine and dairy products, and the main function of low-zero refrigerators is to store meat, poultry and fish.

There is a third category of refrigerators that is used to quickly cool food called the freezing tunnel. There is a fourth type of refrigerator that is used to store ice cream, which is called a two-stage refrigerator.

Fruit and dairy refrigerator

Refrigerators used to store fruits and dairy products are of the zero type, which are used to store food at temperatures above freezing.

The normal temperature of this type of refrigerator can fluctuate between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius, depending on the type of product being stored. These include fresh dairy refrigerators such as milk, buttermilk and yogurt, and fruit and vegetable refrigerators, as well as refrigerators used to store fresh meat.

Application and structure of refrigerators

Refrigerator for meat and poultry

Refrigerators used to store meat and poultry are of the sub-zero type and, as their name suggests, are used to store frozen chicken and meat.

The operating temperature of this type of refrigerator is below zero degrees Celsius and its normal temperature is -18 degrees Celsius.

Meat, poultry, fish and other foods that need to be stored frozen in this type of cold storage.

Freezing tunnel

Freezing tunnels are used to cool and freeze food at high speeds, which quickly bring food temperatures to -18 degrees. Freezing tunnel temperatures typically reach -40 degrees.

Ice cream parlor or two-stage

Ice cream needs to be stored at a low temperature because it has fat, cream and sometimes salt in its structure. It also does not take on a softened shape. For this reason, we use -18 degrees in the refrigerator to store ice cream. And when storing ice cream in large dimensions, we use two-stage compressors.

Refrigerators, in addition to being classified based on operating temperature, also have different types in terms of dimensions and size and are divided into the following categories:

Room Refrigerator Movable Refrigerator Large Industrial Refrigerator Connection Refrigerator Production of Small Refrigerator

Room refrigerators are used to build small and medium refrigerators. These types of refrigerators are used to store food in hotels, distribution centers, restaurants or store fruit in gardens.

The construction of this cold storage is such that a room in the desired building is selected, then it is insulated with sandwich panels, and then refrigeration and cooling equipment is installed inside it.

Canopy or mobile refrigerator

When we need to build a small or medium-sized refrigerator, but we want to set it up in a shed or a large space, we use a conical or mobile refrigerator. In this type, instead of using the walls of the room, we use canopies or metal structures.

Large industrial refrigerators

Industrial refrigerators are used to store food in bulk. They also consist of many rooms. Each room receives a different cold depending on the type of food they store.

The city's perishable food warehouses are used by most gardeners and large poultry and meat distributors who store their food. Of course, these types of refrigerators use freon or ammonia system depending on the conditions and type of use.

Application and structure of refrigerators

Refrigerators are also classified according to atmosphere

Atmospheric control refrigeration

These types of refrigerators are used to provide special conditions in terms of the composition of the air inside the room for longer storage of some food.

One of these special conditions is a decrease in the concentration of oxygen or ethylene gas. In this case, the design of the refrigerator is completely airtight. The air inside the refrigerator is combined in two ways.

In the first case, carbon dioxide is injected into the air inside the room from a tank designed next to the room. This action changes the composition of the indoor air. In the second case, the compounds that pollute the air are separated from the air by special filters. He is then led out of the room

With the help of this operation, the time required for spoilage of some foods is prolonged. Conditions are also provided for long-term storage of food.

Ordinary refrigerator

A refrigerator that operates normally and only the air temperature and humidity are controlled. Food storage refrigerators mostly work this way.
